My method to alleviate this problem last time was to use a Homebridge "Magic Occupancy" plugin and try to turn on lights in the area for 30 mins to 1 hour which is really long. When it detects "something" lingering there - it doesn't turn off.as fast. Sometimes when it works, it turns off my lights fast. I checked - I don't think my house is on top of some pet cemetary!! For now - my conclusion on the device's use as a "non-presence" detection is still 50-50 - (and don't forget, it detects fans spinning as motion too I think, I keep thinking this is some new fangled PIR sensor) like I'm not in the room but the detection still shows something present in the room! Like what the heck right? lol. However where I disagree with you is the reliability (for now!) - I'm seeing it detect some "ghosts". Thanks for your comment! I do agree with you - its probably the best presence sensor we got - just that the initial detection time is bad! Unacceptable performance, at this point I'm wondering if I can cobble together some automation to use the Xiaomi sensor to turn on lights, and just use these to turn lights OFF instead. like maybe 10-15 mins to update)Įdit : Few more hours in - they seem a bit more stable, but still just as slow. (firmware for the hub and also these sensors are updated too, which is also by the way, extremely slow. Trying to reach out to others who have this device and have different experience! Maybe some tips though I doubt it. Main caveat : they will only pair with Aqara hubs. These devices are constantly powered, why are they so sluggish? Currently using xiaomi motion sensors to trigger my lighting and they're acceptable - though I wish they would be faster but hey, they're wireless and doesn't need a socket so I can't really complain. My setup : homekit with lan wired appletv 4k as a hub. I got 2 sensor who needed a power cycle for no reason. At further distance sometimes it has difficulty telling left/right apart. I have the Xiaomi standard motion sensor and those works instantaneously! The only problem with those is that if I don't move, they don't see you.ĭetection accuracy, at super close range where you can touch the sensor, its alright. You can't walk into a room, wait 4 seconds for the lights to turn on. I wonder if its cause it sends data back to China servers or something, like those Tuya products. Its not real time at all, took about 4 seconds. After a day of messing around with these sensors, I can safely say - don't buy this yet, unless you're willing to put up with the non-realtime detection. From the russian video posted 2 months ago, I was extremely hopeful. I gotta say, I was extremely disappointed with the performance of the sensor - maybe its cause I have really high expectations from these new generation type of sensors.
